GET A THIRST FOR ORANGE JUICE (DOMINO RECORDS)
Domino release a comprehensive seven-disc anthology Coals To Newcastle (November 8th 2010) - STREAM IT ON THE GUARDIAN WEBSITE!
In six tumultuous years, Orange Juice, led by Edwyn Collins greatly expanded the palette of independent music alongside the legendary Postcard label (Aztec Camera, The Go-Betweens and Josef K) run in conjunction with then-manager Alan Horne. Their brand of literate pop songwriting pre-saged the coming of The Smiths and kickstarted a renaissance in Scottish pop music that continues to this day. Originally a couple of school mates from Bearsden (in Glasgow) making tunes under name 'Nu-Sonics', Orange Juice formed in 1979 when Edwyn Collins and Alan Duncan were joined by James Kirk and Steven Daly (later replaced Malcolm Ross and Zeke Manyika). Their biggest hit was 'Rip It Up' in 1983 which hit number 8 in the singles charts and of four studio albums three made it into the top 40.

INTRODUCING YOUNG MAGIC
Although now firmly settled in New York City, Young Magic’s three members came together through equal helpings of openness and fortuity. In 2010, singer and producer Isaac Emmanuel had left his home continent of Australia to travel across Europe, over to New York, and down through Mexico, all the while creating and recording music with whatever instruments he found along the way. While in Mexico, Emmanuel kept a tight correspondence with fellow Australian expat Michael Italia, who for months had been similarly traveling across Europe and South America with portable recording gear in tow. They decided to meet up in New York, where their good friend from a few years prior, Indonesian-born vocalist Melati Malay, had been living and making her own recordings. In early 2011 the three friends, who had initially bonded over their broad musical palettes, began recording together and contributing songs to the record, culling influences and finding their own footing among them.
Young Magic release their album Melt on 14th February 2012 on Carpark Records. More information
