SON LUX 'STRANGER FORMS' EP OUT 17TH JULY 2016

Son Lux began as the solo project of classically trained electro artist Ryan Lott, but it was expanded to a trio for last year’s album Bones. The trio is set to follow up that excellent full-length effort with the Stranger Forms EP this summer.

It opens with winding, wandering, triumphant horns and careens into a marching band feel with the horns coming in huge bursts with big drums. Lott’s soulful vocals come in to signal a switch to a more subdued, jazzy aesthetic and then the two contrasting sounds alternate, wonderfully fluctuating the energy and evolving the sonic for a relentlessly engaging excursion. Hanna Benn joins to punctuate the crescendo as Lott provocatively repeats “You don’t know me/ You don’t know me at all,” evoking the gamut of emotions that come with the realization of someone you care about knowing you less intimately than you thought or would like them to. The tension between the brightness and immensity of the sound and the darkly shaded sentiments makes for a stirring experience.

NEW SIGNING - PROTOMARTYR 'RELATIVES IN DESCENT' OUT 29TH SEPTEMBER 2017

DOMINO ALL-IN
Protomartyr 'Relatives in Descent'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

Anxiety about the precarious nature of reality is a recurring thread on Protomartyr's 4th full-length and Domino debut, Relatives In Descent out September 29th. Though not a concept album, it presents twelve variations on a theme: the unknowable nature of truth, and the existential dread that often accompanies that unknowing. It's no coincidence this missive comes to us at a moment when disinformation and garbled newspeak have become a daily reality.  'Relatives In Descent' offers new layers and new insights, without sanding any of the edges born from their days as a Detroit bar band.

It all begins with ‘A Private Understanding,’ pegged as the album's opening statement the second it was finished, and a wellspring from which the following eleven songs flow. At once beautiful and brutal, it mutates from drum-led oddity to unlikely anthem, with some of Casey’s most potent lyrical work at its centre.

Following the acclaim of their debut album Still Life, south London trio Little Cub have shared the video for stand-out track, ‘Breathing Space’. Watch above.

“’Breathing Space’ is a song about the negative spaces in a relationship and people and things that come in to fill those gaps. Don Paterson once said it's easier to traverse the distance of space than to bridge the distance between one person's mind and yours and here the central question is one of fidelity. That if someone keeps you at arms length for long enough at what point does so much come between you that the ties simply come undone.”

On release of their new music video, Little Cub have announced their Autumn UK tour dates
