Mikal Cronin has announced his fourth solo album album, Seeker out October 25 via Merge. Watch the Yasi Salek-directed video for his new single “Show Me" above.

“‘Show Me’ is a song about feeling small in an overwhelming world,” said Cronin. “There’s a not-quite-subtle hint of the Heartbreakers in the instrumentation and arrangement, having asked many friends to play or sing. It’s one of my favorite songs from the album, I hope you like it too.” He wrote most of the album in a cabin in the mountains of Southern California which he was forced to evacuate when the fires happened last year. Heading back to L.A., Mikal made the record with engineer Jason Quever (of Papercuts) and Ty Segall’s Freedom Band backing him. “I wanted to bring you into the room. Jason and I talked about the Beatles’ White Album a lot when placing mics,” says Cronin. “I brought a charred pine cone from the woods to the studio, just in case it would help. Fire—specifically its cycle of purging and reseeding the landscape—is a central theme to the record. Death and rebirth.”

BIG THIEF 'TWO HANDS' OUT 11TH OCTOBER 2019 (DOMINO PUBLISHING)

Big Thief 'Two Hands'

Big Thief had only just finished work on their 3rd album, U.F.O.F. - "the celestial twin" - days before in a cabin studio in the woods of Washington State. Now it was time to birth U.F.O.F.'s sister album - "the earth twin" - Two Hands. 30 miles west of El Paso, surrounded by 3,000 acres of pecan orchards and only a stone's throw from the Mexican border, Big Thief (a.k.a. Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek, Max Oleartchik, and James Krivchenia) set up their instruments as close together as possible to capture their most important collection of songs yet. Where U.F.O.F.layered mysterious sounds and effects for levitation, Two Hands grounds itself on dried-out, cracked desert dirt.

In sharp contrast to the wet environment of the U.F.O.F. session, the southwestern Sonic Ranch studio was chosen for its vast desert location. The 105-degree weather boiled away any clinging memories of the green trees and wet air of the previous session. Two Hands had to be completely different - an album about the Earth and the bones beneath it. The songs were recorded live with almost no overdubs. All but two songs feature entirely live vocal takes, leaving Adrianne's voice suspended above the mix in dry air, raw and vulnerable as ever.

RICHARD DAWSON '2020' OUT 11TH OCTOBER 2019 (DOMINO ALL-IN)

DOMINO ALL-IN
Richard Dawson '2020'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

Richard Dawson, the black-humoured bard of Newcastle, returns to release his sixth solo album 2020, his first since the critically acclaimed, Peasant. 2020 –out on 11th October 2019. Richard Dawson has shared the video for new track, “Two Halves”, animated and directed by Lesley-Anne Rose. “Two Halves” is one of Dawson’s most melodic - even catchy! - tracks to date, shown off through the lens of a tumultuous relationship between a father and child over a childhood football match. Watch above.

On 2020, Dawson introduces us to grand themes through small lives. His are portraits of human beings struggling with recognisable (and dare we say it, relatable) concerns, conflicts and desires, each reminding us that tragedy and gallows humour are not mutually exclusive, and that the magical can sit next to the mundane. Lyrically it is by far Dawson’s hardest-hitting and unflinchingly honest album to date. It is his poetic masterwork.

The first single from the album comes in the form of “Jogging”, a chugging pop track that deals with the meditative benefits of jogging in dealing with anxiety, told through the aches and pains of middle-England. The video was directed by Edwin Burdis. Watch the video for “Jogging” HERE

In addition to “Two Halves”, Richard Dawson will be curating a very special one-off Delight Is Right event at London’s Barbican Centre on 28th March 2020. The eclectic line-up (currently unannounced),will reflect the breadth of Dawson’s influences and performances will stretch across two stages and culminate in a headline Richard Dawson set and a very exciting collaboration in the Barbican Hall.

KATE TEMPEST 'PEOPLE’S FACES (STREATHAM VERSION)’ OUT 13TH SEPTEMBER (DOMINO PUBLISHING)

Kate Tempest 'People’s Faces (Streatham Version)’
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

British spoken word artist, rapper, poet, novelist and playwright Kate Tempest ahead of her tour has released a new single entitled ‘People’s Faces’ will be released via Fiction on September 13th. This is a rework of the album track by Kate’s longtime producer Dan Carey.

Kate says of the track, “People’s faces (Streatham version)’. ‘People’s faces’ is the final song on my recent album ‘The Book Of Traps And Lessons’. It’s where all of the agonising and soul-searching of the entire record culminates in this very simple expression of deep love for people’s faces and we wanted the song to have the possibility of connecting with as many people as possible. So, we made a version that was shorter and was more song like and that is the version we have here, to play for you now. We are calling it the ‘Streatham version’ as that is where Dan is based and that is where the studio is. All that remains to say is thank you Mary-Anne Hobbs for playing it – this is its first ever play and for everyone listening, I really hope that it connects with you and that you feel it. Thanks a lot.”

JENIFER JACKSON 'PATHS' OUT 30TH SEPTEMBER (DOMINO PUBLISHING)

Jenifer Jackson 'Paths'

Jenifer Jackson shares her 12th studio album 'Paths' and unveils the video for the single 'Sultry Memory'. Watch the video above.

Jenifer Jackson is an American songwriter, singer and guitarist known for crafting intimate, understated pop songs. She embraces elements of old fashioned country, bossa nova, and folk in her writing and singing, and always with great soulfulness.

Jackson on her new album 'Paths': "I wrote these songs during a rugged road of a time. They have some common threads; the desire, the journey, the effort to get to a place that feels like home. And, the memories of people and experiences collected along the way. I chose the title PATHS because I feel it’s a personal way of describing one’s journey. A path is made just by footsteps that leave their prints on the ground as they’re moving on.

I met Brad Jones in NYC about 20 years ago, having been connected by our mutual publisher. Soon after, he invited me down to Nashville to record a song or two at his new studio, Alex the Great, to see if we liked working together. He called in a couple friends to join us; Micky Grimm on drums and Pat Sansone on keys, guitars and backup vocals.

Brad played bass, the chemistry was magical, and two songs turned into my 12-song record, BIRDS (Parasol Records USA , Ulftone Records, EUR). Since BIRDS, I’ve made 10 more albums, left well-loved NYC and lived 10+ years in Austin, TX, traveled around the world, played with many fine musicians, gotten older, acquired some knowledge and perspective, lost some loved ones and continued my seeking. This Spring, when I sent Brad my new song demos, he replied with great enthusiasm and excitement to record them together. We talked back and forth about production and arrangement ideas, discussed instrumentation, and finally, booked 4 days at Alex the Great."

NEW SIGNING: BUSCABULLA 'VAMONO' OUT 25TH SEPTEMBER 2019 (DOMINO ALL-IN)

DOMINO ALL-IN
Buscabulla 'Vamono'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

Buscabulla has released the single "Vámono", with a music video directed by Claudia Calderon. Watch above.

It is the first song both written and conceived since the duo's members, Raquel Berrios and Luis Alfredo Del Valle, moved home to Puerto Rico, from New York. The song is a rally to those who have returned as well as those whom have left. It is an urgent reminder to connect with your history, your roots, your very own self. Buscabulla were born and raised in Puerto Rico. Yet it wasn't until 2011 while living in NYC that the producer, designer, songwriter, and DJ Berrios teamed up with producer and multi-instrumentalist Del Valle. Together they formed "troublemaker", or “Buscabulla", as it's known in Puerto Rican slang. Buscabulla's debut EP was co-produced with Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange) and subsequently released on the Kitsuné Musique label in 2014. Buscabulla's second EP, II, was self-produced and self-released in January 2017.

The video for Vámono”, is an amalgam of Neo-Cultural expressions inspired by ancestral traditions which are celebrated in regions close to the group's own personal history in Puerto Rico. The Vejigantes, from Ponce, where Del Valle was born and raised, and Festival de Las Mascaras in Hatillo, where Berrios' ancestors are from and, like her, emigrated to NY, made a life there and came back to Puerto Rico to live out the rest of their lives.

"With the mass-exodus of Puerto Ricans to the mainland U.S. as well as economic decline accompanied by displacement of our people and traditions, we hoped to capture the essence of these festivities," the band says. "By their very nature and existence, these festivities are a form of celebratory resistance."

GEORGIA 'SEEKING THRILLS' OUT 10TH JANUARY 2020 (DOMINO ALL-IN)

DOMINO ALL-IN
Georgia 'Seeking Thrills'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

Domino are extremely proud to present Seeking Thrills, the new LP from Georgia, due for release on January 10th 2020. The new single, “Never Let You Go” exemplifies Georgia’s trademark unfiltered lyrical sweetness and acidic production fused with a house-influenced driving beat. The accompanying video was shot and directed by Joseph Connor in Jordan. Watch above.

“Never Let You Go” and the announcement of Seeking Thrills comes after a hugely successful 2019 for Georgia. Both of her singles, “Started Out” and “About Work The Dancefloor” hit Radio 1's A playlist, and propelled Georgia to headline shows across the globe, including dates in Europe, Latin America, the US, Australia, plus a goosebump-inducing one-woman-band set on Glastonbury's Park Stage.

The new LP, Seeking Thrills is a sharply paced and fascinating album, packed with injections of lightness and fun, pared with rich, bubbling melodies that makes listening to it an experience that takes you into the party, through electro-pop into R&B, and back again. Her deep, brooding reflections carry us through euphoria, heartache and melancholy but always with the memory of the good times. Georgia is reminding you of the altitude of your last real thrill, and when we turn the record on, we’re there again, aching for more.

Heavily inspired by Chicago House and Detroit Techno of the early 80s, Seeking Thrills fuses analogue club sounds with solid pop songwriting and showcases Georgia's lifelong love affair with the drums.
