PEAKING LIGHTS - 936
Latest tracks by Peaking Lights
West Coast dub-pop duo Aaron Coyes and Indra Dunis have joined Domino label Weird World. The husband-wife duo’s first release for the label 936 will arrive out 21st November 2011. A hauntingly beautiful, intensely immersive record that merges elements of dub, psych, minimal house, disco and krautrock with a distinct pop sensibility. Aaron and Indra have dug deep into their formidable record collection in order to conjure up the latest in a series of amazingly eclectic mixes. Download
A note from Aaron on the next record out 2012: 'The songs that we've been working on have been very groovy and psyched out, foraging deeper into new rhythm techniques and territories, smoother bass lines w/ a heavy dub influence looking outward to private press boogie records, african & latin rhythms and tranced vibrations of the most killer all nite party you've never been to: less cocaine, more weed, a sustained orgasm, maintaining 100% creative control, late hot summer nights, come down chill room and low lit zone, lazer light show, smoke machines, being naked and watching the sun rise. This has been inspired by a long wild ride of a year with the birth of our son Mikko Lorenzo Dunis Coyes being at the helm of inspiration. We're working on moving in new directions, there's a lot of things we'll never give up in our passion for making killer chunes but the birth of our son has been an eye opening event to infinite possibilities...'

INTRODUCING YOUNG MAGIC
Although now firmly settled in New York City, Young Magic’s three members came together through equal helpings of openness and fortuity. In 2010, singer and producer Isaac Emmanuel had left his home continent of Australia to travel across Europe, over to New York, and down through Mexico, all the while creating and recording music with whatever instruments he found along the way. While in Mexico, Emmanuel kept a tight correspondence with fellow Australian expat Michael Italia, who for months had been similarly traveling across Europe and South America with portable recording gear in tow. They decided to meet up in New York, where their good friend from a few years prior, Indonesian-born vocalist Melati Malay, had been living and making her own recordings. In early 2011 the three friends, who had initially bonded over their broad musical palettes, began recording together and contributing songs to the record, culling influences and finding their own footing among them.
Young Magic release their album Melt on 14th February 2012 on Carpark Records. More information
