Following the acclaim of their debut album Still Life, south London trio Little Cub have shared the video for stand-out track, ‘Breathing Space’. Watch above.

“’Breathing Space’ is a song about the negative spaces in a relationship and people and things that come in to fill those gaps. Don Paterson once said it's easier to traverse the distance of space than to bridge the distance between one person's mind and yours and here the central question is one of fidelity. That if someone keeps you at arms length for long enough at what point does so much come between you that the ties simply come undone.”

WATCHING WILMA ARCHER 'SCARECROW' (DOMINO ALL-IN)

Wilma Archer 'Scarecrow'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

UK composer, producer and songwriter Will Archer (formerly recording as Slime), has announced two songs, ‘Scarecrow’ and ‘Cures and Wounds’, his first new music of 2018. Watch the Katia Ganfield directed music video above.

The release follows last year's single ‘Like A Hunger ft. Amber Mark’ and Archer's 2015 album, Company, under his previous moniker, Slime. After composing and writing for the likes of Jessie Ware, Selah Sue and Jeramiah Jae, the release sees Archer shift focus back to his own work. ‘Scarecrow’ takes Archer’s prodigious musicality to a whole new level, moving from the languid, elusive soul of his earlier works towards a more dynamic, robust form of modern instrumental experimentation.

The track is composed of a number of different movements each of which see a different instrument take the lead, eventually building to a gorgeous crescendo. Both ‘Scarecrow’ and ‘Cures and Wounds’ were composed, arranged and produced by Wilma Archer.

Ed Schrader's Music Beat share the Philip Leaman directed music video (produced by Standard Joy Productions) for "Dunce" taken from upcoming album, "Riddles," out March 2nd on Carpark Records. Watch above.

Ed Schrader’s Music Beat is a Baltimore-based post-punk band consisting of Ed Schrader and Devlin Rice. Ed and Devlin first met nearly a decade ago while performing in separate acts on the legendary 2008 Baltimore Round Robin tour (curated by Dan Deacon and also including Beach House and Future Islands).

Since forming in 2010, the duo has mounted 19 tours of the U.S., frequently opening for Future Islands, and sharing stages with such acts as No Age, Lightning Bolt, Matmos, and Ceremony. The Music Beat originally worked in a maximalist drums, bass, and vocals mode, releasing the noise-rock full-lengths Jazz Mind (Load Records, 2012), and Party Jail (Infinity Cat Recordings, 2014). Their song “Sermon” is used in the Adult Swim short Unedited Footage of a Bear, and “Rats” appears in Theo Anthony’s feature documentary Rat Film.

For their game-changing new record Riddles, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat has teamed with producer and co-writer Dan Deacon to broaden their sonic palette and explore the possibilities of the art-rock and alt-rock genres.

New Zealand’s Marlon Williams has announced his second album, Make Way For Love, out 16th February 2018. In addition, he has shared the Martin Sagadin directed music video for 'What's Chasing You', watch above.

After three weeks of pre-production with regular collaborator Ben Edwards, Williams and his backing band, The Yarra Benders, then decamped 7000 miles away, to Northern California’s Panoramic Studios, to record with producer Noah Georgeson, who’s helmed baroque pop and alt-folk gems by Joanna Newsom, Adam Green, Little Joy and Devendra Banhart. The record also moves Williams several paces away from “country” with uses of cinematic strings, reverb, rollicking guitar and at least one quiet piano ballad.

Joan As Police Woman 'Damned Devotion'

Joan As Police Woman shares the video for her latest single ‘Tell Me’, taken from her new album Damned Devotion, which is due for release on 9 February via Play It Again Sam. Watch above.

Speaking about the video, Joan says: “The director, Brian Crano, and I became friends when I scored his upcoming feature Permission (released the same day as my album Damned Devotion). I asked him if he could suggest someone to shoot my video and within 5 minutes he had written me back an entire storyline himself. He used the fact that I enjoy creating personas as the basis for the video. I play a variety of characters; a glam queen, a chef who consumes her own heart, a (self-)interrogator, photographer, etc. Let’s just say at one point I wield a unicorn piñata glitter canon… Tell me tell me tell me what (else) do you want?'

Already acknowledged as a thrilling live performer and starkly honest lyricist, Damned Devotion, finds Joan Wasser at her rawest. “My maxim is: if it feels scary to say it, it’s the thing you must say”. And onDamned Devotion the thoughtful lyricism is married to her most accessible music to date.

Famously a collaborator and muse to artists as diverse as Anohni, Rufus Wainwright, Lou Reed and Beck, since the release of her last album Joan has worked alongside fashion designers Viktor & Rolf as well as a growing list of musicians including Sufjan Stevens, Lau, RZA and most recently Daniel Johnston.

Hookworms 'Microshift'

On the eve of the release of new album Microshift, Hookworms have shared new the video for new track, ‘Each Time We Pass’. Featuring vocals from Alice Merida Richards from Virginia Wing, the track is a stand out from Microshift and marks one of the band's first fully collaborative pieces of music. The band’s long-time AV projectionist and video artist, Sam Wiehl has created the video to accompany the track which features 3D scans of the band, their friends and fans. Watch above.

On ‘Each Time We Pass’, the band have said:

“This track was the first time we have ever truly collaborated with an artist external to the band, in the most modern sense of the word. It was an extremely rewarding experience and it is one of the only Hookworms songs where I can happily stand back and admire it as it had been written by another band.”

Microshift is the Leeds band's first new work in over 3 years and marks a seismic shift in their sound, dynamic, song-writing and production, whilst still bearing all the ferocious energy, intricate musicianship and bruised but beautiful song-craft of the previous releases which have quietly made them one of the UK's most revered young bands. Radiant, immersive and teeming with light, but still heavy and forceful.
