L.A. Takedown's (Aaron M. Olson) debut self-titled album on Ribbon Music creates many moods, scenes and stories over the course of its 42 minutes, and is available in an experimental album format: a website. Upon entering, one can experience a stream of the entire album, synced with real-time footage of a Los Angeles sunset. Each visit will serve up a new visual, all captured throughout 2015 by Matt Hewitt and Conor Collins, so that while the story of L.A. Takedown ebbs and flows, so too can the backdrop.
We are pleased to share the track, ‘MDR’, an effervescent, harmonized, rare love song amongst the unrest Petite Noir tackles head on throughout his upcoming debut album, ‘La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful’, released on 11th September 2015. Listen above.

Bullion, real name Nathan Jenkins, is a producer, mix engineer and songwriter from West London. In addition to this he runs DEEK Recordings, a label releasing diverse and worldly music guided by the mantra 'pop, not slop!'.
Nathan's productions, achieving acclaim in 2008 with Get Familiar, are full of distinctive rhythmic arrangements and unexpected changes – owing to a short attention span and acute attention to detail. With a slew of releases on One-Handed music, he drew the attention of Young Turks, releasing ‘You Drive Me To Plastic’ in 2011 and soon after, R&S, revealing his own voice on 2012’s hypnotic ‘Say Arr Ee’.
Forthcoming is 'Rooster', a mini album for joint release on Greco Roman and DEEK. Alongside solo output, Nathan produces and writes with other artists. Collaborations include Gwilym Gold, JUCE!, Rye Rye, Laura Groves & Tic Zogson (as Nautic) and Jesse Hackett (as Blludd Relations).
Over the past few years Nathan has been booked to DJ all over the world and in 2010 was invited to Ethiopia for a music trip with Africa Express. More recently, Paul Epworth (Adele, Glass Animals) has enlisted him to work on various projects, culminating in an additional production credit on the Pop Group’s latest LP.
London’s deconstructed pop prodigy Tirzah announces new single ‘Make It Up’, set for release on 14th August via Greco-Roman.
The track, produced by Tirzah’s childhood friend Mica Levi aka Micachu, recently found its way into the hands of one Kieran Hebden – better known as Four Tet – who gave it a surprise debut in his BBC Radio 1 show when he covered for Benji B.
‘Make It Up’ is Tirzah’s third release for the Greco-Roman label following an acclaimed debut in the form of lofi anthem ‘I’m Not Dancing’ (watch the video here) and 2014’s self-confessed “emo” ‘No Romance’ EP. Once again, with just a handful of tracks her skill at crafting a seemingly effortless modern take on pop shines through, as quietly compelling as it is understated.
Patrick Watson has released a brand new video for ‘Love Songs for Robots’, the title track from his latest album out now via Domino. The video, directed by Academy Award-nominated Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, can be watched above.

Philadelphia’s Alex Giannascoli aka Alex G is pleased to announce his forthcoming new full-length album 'Beach Music' - his first for Domino.
Between the Fall of 2014 and the Spring of 2015, during breaks from touring with the likes of Speedy Ortiz, Cymbals Eat Guitars and Elvis Depressedly. While its predecessors often came in uninterrupted bursts—from his head to his Bandcamp page in a matter of hours and days—Beach Music was shaped in part by Giannascoli adapting to life as a touring musician. Songs were written within months of one another rather than all at once, with influences ranging from noise music to piano-based laments to Southern rock to the rhythmic focus of techno—whatever he happened to be most interested in at the time. “Every song is coming from a different place,” he says. “It branches off in all these directions, but it has its own sound. It’s not something I do intentionally, but I’m the common thread.”
The album, his seventh full-length, follows on from previous beloved albums DSU (Orchid Tapes), Trick, and Rules, which have led to a fervent cult fan base, a number of Artist To Watch designations from outlets such as Fader and Rolling Stone, and a dedicated live audience who sing along with every word.

'Best' taken from the album ‘La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful’ out 11th September 2015 (Domino).
Directed by Travys Owen with art direction by Rochelle Nembhard, explores the modern day ‘Noirwave’ Africa. It examines the perception of Africa as a ‘dark continent’, largely unknown, exotic and distant. It shows the forward-thinking, progressive Africa and illustrates what Ilunga calls the ‘Noirwave’ movement. It looks at how only through visiting the continent can anyone gain a sense of one of its most fascinating features, that of its split identity; how incredibly and indescribably beautiful it is on the one hand, yet on the other hand, how raw and unforgiving it can be.
Travys Owen (director) ‘We wanted to make 4 distinct ‘tribes’ of people. This allowed us to create a visual journey that Yannick is on, running through all of these different landscapes and allowed us to create these rich scenes which were very different from each other. The four main elements in the video are Fire, Malachite (earth/rock), Water & Gold. The video is about Yannick’s journey through all of these landscapes meeting all of these different tribes.’
Rochelle Nembhard (art director) ‘I wanted to break all boundaries in how we portrayed the continent and her people. The video showcases the beauty of the continent, the richness in her landscapes, the sacredness of her culture, the immense diversity of her tribes and the natural inherent beauty and style of her people.’
Recorded at Box Ten Studios in London with Oli Bayston (Boxed In) and Leon Brichard (Ibibio Sound Machine), ‘La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful’ is named after a revered Congolese film of the same name, the album is both a beacon and a vessel of inspiration, offering empowerment to those who need it.
La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautifulrepresents the first full expression of what the half-Congolese, half-Angolan, Cape Town-residing, Ilunga calls ‘Noirwave’, which is more of a concept than a specific sound. Inspired by innovators like Mos Def and legends Fela Kuti and Tabu Ley, Noirwave encompasses a ‘new African aesthetic’, plain and simple. ‘I think for me, it's just the story their music tells and the sense of freedom. It's about seeing the positive in dark times’.
With the forthcoming release of debut album Personal Computer on Weird World on 28th August, Kody Nielson's Silicon has released a new video for single Burning Sugar. Watch the video above.
Directed by both Nielson and Ralph Brown, Burning Sugar's hallucinatory dreamland boasts everything from Silicon's musical world in vibrant colour, as analogue and digital merge together to balance perfectly in Silicon's audiovisual vision.
After two self-released EPs of exquisite, introspective songwriting – Increases and Increases II – and a youth orchestra-assisted performance at Tate Modern, Slime, aka Will Archer, signed to Weird World, the experimental imprint of Domino records. Curated from almost 400 demos, the 10 tracks that make up debut album Company are a late-night confessional, blurring dark electronica and fragmented instrumentation into swirling, psychedelic pop.
Daniel Brereton's video for Slime’s latest single, “Hot Dog,” tells a tale of British suburban stasis, and follows surreal creations for Kindness, Metronomy and Connan Mockasin. In contrast to Archer's visual aesthetic, the vocal collaborations on Company are much more human, with Belgian soul star Selah Sue and Chicago’s underground rapper Jeremiah Jae sparring with Archer’s shadowy stories.
Following the release of the acclaimed debut album Inji, LA PRIEST – the project of former Late Of The Pier front man Sam Dust has shared the new video for Inji’s opening track, ‘Occasion’, again directed by Dust and long-time collaborator Isaac Eastgate with whom he worked on the videos for singles ‘Oino’ and ‘Learning To Love’.
