SUPERORGANISM 'SUPERORGANISM' OUT 2ND MARCH 2018 (DOMINO ALL-IN)

DOMINO ALL-IN

Superorganism, one of 2018’s most hotly tipped new artists, announce full details of their highly anticipated debut album which will be released 2nd March 2018 via Domino Records. Watch the video for 'Everybody Wants To Be Famous' above.

Self-produced, written and recorded in the east London house-stroke-studio-stroke band HQ they all share together (imagine a squat version of the Brill Building, or a lo-fi, DIY take on Max Martin’s Cheiron studio), Superorganism is a spectacularly confident debut record that beams with a sense of wonky fun, a kaleidoscopic riot of sound and visuals. Influenced by the world-building depth of artists like Devo, Beck and The Avalanches, Superoganism soundtracks the band’s rapid trajectory from shared house side project to global audiovisual powerhouse and features previous singles ‘Something For Your M.I.N.D.’ and ‘It’s All Good / Nobody Cares’ as well as their brand single ‘Everybody Wants To Be Famous’.

The eight piece band - a sprawling, multi-limbed collection of international musicians and pop culture junkies have been shortlisted in the BBC Sound Of and VEVO dscvr polls among others. Superorganism will be taking their acclaimed live show on the road throughout 2018, including extensive UK, European and North American headline tours. The full dates are below, including a London headline show at the 1000 capacity Oval Space on 8th March.

WATCHING (SANDY) ALEX G 'HOPE' (DOMINO ALL-IN)

DOMINO ALL-IN
(Sandy) Alex G 'House Of Sugar'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

(Sandy) Alex G has shared a new track and accompanying video, “Hope”, from his forthcoming album, House of Sugar.

(Sandy) Alex G, a.k.a. the singer, songwriter, and musician Alex Giannascoli, began writing the songs that would ultimately become House of Sugar in the fall of 2017. Whereas with earlier efforts, such as 2011’s self-released Winner or the landmark 2014 release DSU, music was written and recorded at a prolific clip, with these new songs Giannascoli approached the recording process with a newfound deliberateness, concentrating on a smaller collection of songs and laboring over each with more focus and acuity than ever before.

Giannascoli worked closely with Jacob Portrait, who mixed both Rocket and 2015’s Beach Music, and helped to balance each of House of Sugar’s dense, multi-faceted tracks. As the product of extended focus and planning, House of Sugar emerges as Giannascoli’s most meticulous, cohesive album yet: a statement of artistic purpose, showing off his ear for both persistent earworms and shifting textures, and the out-there sonic adventurism that’s made previous (Sandy) Alex G records so singular.

The new track is one of the more dancefloor ready moments on Blume, capturing some of the best aspects Nérija’s live sets whilst adding some indefinable studio magic, perfectly exemplifying the collaborative nature of the band.

For just over an hour, they take us on a sprawling wonderful journey, arriving at what is a majestic body of work; their personal and collective experiences and inspirations over the last half decade or so.

Lower Dens 'Young Republicans'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

Four years since their critically acclaimed album, Escape From Evil, Lower Dens recently announced their newest creation - The Competition - which will be released on Ribbon Music on September 6th.  Today, Lower Dens are happy to share the video for the second single from the album, directed by Jason Nocito, featuring choreography by Veleda Roehl and dancers Stephannie Henriquez & Steven Jeltsch. “I Drive” follows on the heels - in both sequence and theme - of the album’s lead single Young Republicans, about a certain sect of society's elite. On “I Drive,” Jana Hunter sings inquisitively “We had streets. But now there’s just police.  I drive at night.

On “I Drive”, Hunter says, “Like a lot of queer and trans people, I've learned that real family is made, and it isn't necessarily blood. Even my blood relatives, we work for that familial connection and trust. This song is about leaving behind obligations to people who don't love or care about you, being with and about people who do. It's a feeling so strong it's driving me. That's the driving I'm doing."

VILLAGERS 'SUMMER'S SONG' OUT 9TH JULY 2019 (DOMINO ALL-IN)

DOMINO ALL-IN
Villagers 'Summer's Song'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

Villagers are pleased to share a brand new single, “Summer’s Song”. Featuring a chorus of six flugelhorns, “Summer’s Song” was written and produced by Conor O’Brien and mixed by the legendary Dave Fridmann (Tame Impala, Flaming Lips, MGMT). Watch the video above.

In Conor’s words: “Summer's Song is the closest I'll ever get to writing a pure pop song. I just had to roll with it and I'm glad I did; it was really just an excuse to make the horns sound like sunbeams. Boy it's fun to play live. I can't quite believe we managed to get the magical touch of Dave Fridmann in on the mix”. The video - animated by Joe May and illustrated by Patricio Bauzá - is equally drenched with memories of summers past and anticipation of those to come.

Fresh from supporting Mumford & Sons on their recent UK arena tour, Villagers will be playing shows throughout the summer including a sold-out gig at Dublin’s glorious Iveagh Gardens (his biggest ever headline - 4000 cap).  A European tour including Paradiso, Amsterdam and the Rolling Stone Weekenders in Germany have also been announced for November.

Villagers released their acclaimed fourth album The Art Of Pretending To Swim last year and O’Brien has a string of accolades under his belt including two Ivor Novello Awards, two Mercury Music Prize nominations and is a previous winner of Ireland’s Choice Music Prize.

Additionally, Villagers’ music has featured in both seasons of HBO drama ‘Big Little Lies’ – reaching the Top 60 Shazam charts in the UK and US last month - and their Spotify session of “Nothing Arrived” has hit over 130 million streams.

WATCHING HOT CHIP 'SPELL' OUT 24TH JUNE 2019 (DOMINO RECORDINGS)

DOMINO RECORDINGS
Hot Chip 'A Bath Full of Ecstasy'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

Hot Chip recently released A Bath Full Of Ecstasy, their brilliant seventh album and the group’s definitive release, crystallising the sound they’ve become celebrated for – bridging euphoria and melancholy with colourful melodies, idiosyncratic vocalisations and pounding electronic pop rhythms. Ahead of their show at Glastonbury, the band have shared a video for album track “Spell”, Watch above.

Directed by Simon Owens, the video for “Spell” takes the lyrics “Like a spell you are under | And now I feel your curse / It’s all that I wanted / A memory in reverse / Forever I’m haunted” and twists them into a weird and warped bedroom that wouldn’t be out of place in an Evil Dead film.

Having originally started life as a track for Katy Perry (Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard contributed to her 2017 album Witness), “Spell” showcases some of the more experimental vocal production found on A Bath Full of Ecstasy. Taylor’s vocals are manipulated to be playful and free, without obfuscating the words; harking to Prince’s gender-bending infectious lust.

BILL RYDER-JONES 'YAWNY YAWN' OUT 26TH JULY 2019 (DOMINO ALL-IN)

DOMINO ALL-IN
Bill Ryder-Jones 'Yawny Yawn'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

At the end of 2018, Bill Ryder-Jones released the critically acclaimed Yawn – his beautiful fourth album. He has now reimagined the songs from Yawn, this time with only vocals and piano, opening an even more intimate window onto his world. Taking inspiration from The Beach Boys, Bill has titled this alternative version of the record Yawny Yawn and it will be released on July 26th. The first track to recieve a reimagining is 'Don't Be Scared, I Love you' which can be watched above.

In his own inimitable style, Bill Ryder-Jones says: “I can't remember why I thought it was a good idea to make a piano version of Yawn, I presume at some point I felt that the original had too much pep. Was actually quite fun to make although I've since developed a dislike for the way my hands look”.

Similarly to Yawn, the album artwork for Yawny Yawn features a family photo. Bill adds: “Much like the artwork for Yawn, this photo just looked like it should be an album cover. Whereas Yawn featured my brother, our babysitter and myself in the background, the artwork for Yawny Yawn shows me at my aunt's house aged 3 and playing my keyboard.”

Multi-instrumentalist, producer, string-arranger and composer Bill Ryder-Jones has had a career spanning 15 years, a rarity in a world that so often looks to the new.  From his musical interpretation of Italo Calvino’s ‘If On A Winters Night A Traveller' (If… in 2011), 2013’s A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart, West Kirby County Primary (2015) and last year’s Yawn, Bill has constantly widened his scope, weaving in an overarching sense of authenticity, intimacy and wryness as he goes.
