Blood Orange 'Cupid Deluxe' out 18thNovember 2013. The album was produced by Hynes in his adopted hometown of New York City, mixed by Jimmy Douglass, and features amazing guest appearances by David Longstreth (Dirty Projectors), Caroline Polachek (Chairlift), Samantha Urbani (Friends), Clams Casino, Despot, Adam Bainbridge (Kindness) and Skepta.
Single, 'Chamakay', recently named Best New Track by Pitchfork, features guest vocals by Caroline Polachek of Chairlift.
Since that Coastal Grooves (2011), Hynes has written and produced music for the likes of Solange, Sky Ferreira, MKS, and more. Cupid Deluxe shows a more expansive aural palate and perfectly highlights why Hynes has become one of the most exhilarating and prolific voices creating music right now.
Blood Orange will be playing Pitchfork Music Festival Paris at the end of this month.
'Big Wheel and Others' out 14th October 2013. The new double LP follows the landmark albums Dropping The Writ, Catacombs, Wit's End and Humor Risk among other releases and is further proof of McCombs’ status as one of his generation’s most visionary, defiant and inspirational songwriters.
Songs such as 'Aeon of Aquarius Blues', the yearningly romantic 'Angel Blood' and lead single 'There Can Be Only One' reaffirm Cass's intimate relationship with the acoustic guitar while the likes of 'Big Wheel' and 'Satan Is My Toy' are two lean, visceral songs. Conversely, 'The Burning Of The Temple' and 'Joe Murder' are brittle and forlorn, haunted by melancholic jazz motifs and bursts of unsettling avant-garde noise. Elsewhere, 9-minute album centrepiece 'Everything Has To Be Just So' encapsulates Cass's ability to inbue wry and often confrontational social commentary with an overarching and generous humanity, as the song opens up from rattlesnake tavern blues into a naked emotive lament with deft sleight of hand.
Jon Hopkins has shared a stunning new video for his single ‘Breathe This Air feat. Purity Ring’, which is released this week. The video was directed by Anthony Dickenson, who said the following: ‘I was interested in those times when you think you're totally alone in your thoughts and something unexpectedly disrupts that, snapping you out. The characters in the film have very different stories but I wanted to create distinct parallels, bringing them closer and closer until they actually intersect in a single defining moment.’
The single version of ‘Breathe This Air’ features Purity Ring’s Megan James, whose vocals transform the track into a vast and shimmering expanse, bringing waves of beautiful melancholy to the original's dark and dusty techno. ‘Breathe This Air’ is the second single taken from the universally acclaimed Immunity, which was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize last week.
Songs from Jeremy Jay including his forthcoming album Abandoned Apartments- 'Far and Near', 'I Was Waiting', 'Sentimental Expressway' and 'Graveyard Shift' feature on the film Grand Central (2013) Directed by Rebecca Zlotowski.
Out 23rd September. single A-side 'Covered In Ivy' was recorded live at the tail end of a European tour at Studio Vogue in Paris. Jay exists in fantastic adoration of his influences: the British goth-pop eccentricity of Tones on Tail, the introspective poeticism of His Name Is Alive's debut, Livoni. Feeling a pull towards the unknown, away from the comfort zone of his California upbringing, Jay has found himself settling in Europe. Covered In Ivy is bout poets poring over written words late into the night - much like Jeremy's own work ethic.
Songs from this album - 'Far and Near', 'I Was Waiting', 'Sentimental Expressway' and 'Graveyard Shift' feature on the film Grand Central (2013) Directed by Rebecca Zlotowski.
INCREDIBLY Shelter from the Storm is London's ONLY free homeless shelter, open all year round and receive no help from the government. Totally independent, they are not affiliated with any other organisation and they depend on volunteers from the community. To survive they rely on generous donations so anything you give is used purely to keep offering our services to those who need them.
Sheila Scott (founder), started with one bed on one night in some church crypt in Islington and now provides shelter to 36 people every single night of the year (not in the church). The place is staffed entirely by volunteers with very low running costs meaning that any money raised has the potential to reach the people it should. Along with providing shelter to many they give their users access to doctors and counsellors as well as helping people back to work, or back to their homes. They do good work with much grace and donations of all sizes will see them continue doing just that.
Domino is running the Royal Parks half marathon on October 6th in order to raise money for two charities; Shelter from the Storm – London’s only FREE homeless shelter, and MIND the mental health charity.
We truly hope that you’ll consider sponsoring us.
You can find out more about both charities at our Virgin money giving page.
As we ride high on the most recent releases from Domino's celebrated rock iconsFranz Ferdinand andArctic Monkeys (news of international number 1 album for AM breaking as I type), Domino is thrilled to have announced 3 nominees (with a tenuous link to a fourth nominee Laura Marling) for the 2013 Barclaycard Mercury Prizealbum of the year in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Blood Orange (Devonté Hynes) - 'Chamakay' features vocals by Caroline Polachek of Chairlift - directed by Adam Bainbridge and filmed on Hynes’ trip to Guyana, where he met his 92-year old grandfather for the first time.
"I visit Georgetown, Guyana for the first time, the town where my mother is from. She, herself has not been back for 30 years, 3 years before I was born. I tracked down family members, including my 92 year old grandfather, who I had never met before. In this video you will see our first ever meeting. The wonderful female vocals on this track are performed by Caroline Polachek from the band Chairlift. Special thanks to Yulandi, Tyrese Gomes, Samantha Urbani, The Crandons & Adam Bainbridge.”
Cate Le Bon is delighted to announce the forthcoming release of her new full length, ‘Mug Museum’ on the 11th November 2013 in the UK (via Turnstile/The Elite Meat Supply) and 12th November in North America (via Wichita Recordings).
Last year whilst on tour in the UK, Baroness suffered a serious accident on their tour bus. The accident led them to individually and collectively question what they valued about their previous lives and whether to continue as a band. We're delighted to say that the support shown by fans left no doubt in the mind of John Dyer Baizley's mind that continuing as Baroness was the right thing to do. Watch this video to hear him talk about the gift of surviving such a serious incident with snippets of some of the band perfoming some of their most accomplished guitar masterpieces.
Baroness will be touring Europe this Autumn [PLAY]
Director: Scott Jacobson 'Mess Me Around' from the album 'Our House On The Hill'.

The Behind the Scenes video of the Men Spring/Summer 2014 show is a postcard from California . It's a time capsule of Carol and Humberto's memories - handwritten patterns of their adolescence, vivid color blocks of their home-state colors - all given a super 8 camera-style treatment, letting those moments resurge and join the present.
