OUTER LIMITS RECORDINGS - SINGLES, DEMOS & RARITIES (2007-2010) OUT 15TH APRIL 2013
One third of Test Icicles, Sam Mehran, releases a collection of works. Whilst his former band mates (Rory Atwell and Dev Hynes) have been producing and working on counteless high-profile side projects, we've been privately enjoying Sam Mehran's intrepid foray into his alter ego Outer Limitz notably with the song I Kontakt. Now dropping the Z in favour of an S, Sam launches a full public assault by consolidating his Singles, Demos & Rarities into one edition for you all to enjoy as well.
'I feel like I have many stories ahead of me. Over the past few years I've learnt that people are people and music is music and I can't really judge or say I believe deep down that one this is genuinely better than another, Life is just so crazy. I used to think I was an alien, but Earth has been such an epic experience that I'm now glad to call it home. But who knows, maybe one day I'll leave and realize that home was some place else.'Sam Mehran
This compilation represents the perfect portal into a special artistic imagination, a thrilling outsider-art artefact and even more reason for excitement regarding whatever Mehran dreams up next.

WATCHING COUNTRY QUEEN BY NIGHT MOVES ALBUM ‘COLORED EMOTIONS’ OUT MARCH 25TH 2013
Currently on the road with both Django Django and fellow Minneapolis group Poliça, Night Moves worked with producer/mixer Thom Monahan (Vetiver, Beachwood Sparks, Devendra Banhart) to tighten and brighten the album.
The core members of Night Moves, guitarist/lead vocalist John Pelant, bassist Micky Alfano and multi-instrumentalist Mark Ritsema, grew up together in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota and spent their younger years rotating in and out of one another's musical orbits. After a couple of promising false starts, the trio re-coalesced in 2009 in earnest as Night Moves and began recording. Since then, the band has been joined by drummer Jared Isabella completing their live set-up.

AUSTRA 'OLYMPIA' OUT 17TH JUNE 2013
Austra is Katie Stelmanis (lead vocals), Maya Postepski (drums), Dorian Wolf (bass), Ryan Wonsiak (keys), Sari & Romy Lightman (backing vocals). 'Olympia' was produced by Austra with additional production by Mike Haliechuk, vocal production by Damian Taylor (Bjork, the Killers), engineered by Bill Skibbe and Leon Taheny and mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Adele, Hot Chip). Austra have previously toured with Grimes, the XX and the Gossip.
Despite the sometimes dark lyrics written in collaboration with band member Sari Lightman, 'Olympia' is bubbly and buoyant— fundamentally a dance record, which Stelmanis says was the band's aim all along. 'We are really into dense harmonies and big beautiful melodies, but I also love techno and dance music. I wanted to bring those elements together.'

THE MEMORY BAND 'ON THE CHALK' OUT 20TH MAY 2013

The Memory Band release a set of postcards to promote their forthcoming album - On the Chalk (Our Navigation of the Line of the Downs)
A beguiling musical tribute to a mythical ancient pathway crossing Southern England, On the Chalk is made of eleven songs spread across haunting horn noises, crackles, drones, blissed-out beats and tender piano melodies, this fourth studio album marks the tenth anniversary of one the most invigorating and much loved folk acts around, a group described by NME as “a disorientating, drugged-up soundtrack for the 21st Century… genuinely beautiful.” And speaking of monumental journeys, it’s been quite a road to this moment for Cracknell and his ever evolving cast of collaborators.

THE PHOENIX FOUNDATION 'FANDANGO' OUT 22ND APRIL 2013
The Phoenix Foundation are represented by Domino Publishing on behalf of Native Tongue in UK and EIRE only.
The band recorded Fandango partially at Neil Finn’s Roundhead studios, partially at a barn in the depths of the New Zealand countryside (in the middle of winter, fire blazing in the recording studio, cardigans on) but mostly at the band’s own HQ, The Car Club in Wellington, New Zealand. The album was then mixed with the assistance of long-term associate Lee Prebble at The Surgery (earthquake warnings taped to the front door).
The album draws on the band’s collective love of the rock canon (Dr John, Black Sabbath, The Carpenters, Can, Talk TalK, ELO, Television,), but also from some of music’s more obscure corners (Harmonia, The Clean, Aphrodite's Child, Erkin Koray, Baris Manco, Georges Zamfir, Hayao Miyazaki).

'He Took You In His Arms' directed by Alex Southam who has previously shot videos for Alt-J, The Walkmen& Lianne La Havas.
The video was shot across a number of locations important to the album’s conception - his teenage bedroom frozen in time at his Mother’s house still complete with 90’s Liverpool FC paraphernalia, the beach at the end of her road, the famous ferry across Liverpool’s Mersey River and the streets, houses and pubs that colour Ryder-Jones’ life each day.
A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart, marries Ryder-Jones masterful capacities as arranger and composer with his first firm steps as a singer songwriter. The album was recorded upstairs in his mother’s house inLiverpool. Two friends from local band By The Sea made up the backing band for the recordings, which were then produced and mixed together with James Ford.

WATCHING 'CRYSTALLIZED' MELODY’S ECHO CHAMBER - SINGLE OUT 19TH MARCH 2013 (WEIRD WORLD)
'The track has a very mellifluous syncopation to it, built from many repetitious looped sounds, so in the film I wanted to visually connect these sounds to simple actions exploring the imminent demise of love. By that I mean the beauty of the beginning and the end and the recursive behaviour that those feelings inspire in between.' Director Zaiba Jabbar
Producer: Brett Webb
Exec Producer: Claire Stubbs
Production Company: Partizan

PATRICK WATSON 'BLACKWIND' VIDEO COMPETITION
Having received an incredible collection of entries from aspiring film-makers since its launch before Christmas, Patrick Watson and creative group Genaro have since announced the winner of the 'Blackwind' video-making competition. Chloe Poirier-Sauve from Canada has had her beautifully well-crafted and fantastical video awarded the title of the single’s official video.
“We never thought there would be that many good entries. Crazy. And of course, we couldn't agree on what should win.
“In the end, we decided to go with a video that impressed us with its artistic qualities. It struck us as more than a music video: it stands on its own as a work of art, which just happens to be inspired by our music. This wasn't an easy choice. Some we liked for the story, some for the beautiful images, some surprised us, others simply touched us. And they go in every direction, which amazes me: who would think one song could inspire so many different feelings and ideas?” Patrick Watson
