'Music For A Flat Landscape' & 'Holkham Drones'

The slow-burning success of his 2010 debut album Holkham Drones was something of a dream induction into the world of professional music-making for Luke Abbott. The “game changing electronic opus” stood out as “far and away one of Drowned in Sound's favourite records of 2010” and landed in Mojo's 'Electronica Albums of 2010' list, amongst wide-spread critical acclaim. It wasn't just about 2010 though; far beyond its initial release Holkham Drones has continued to win over convert upon convert. Four years on, his second full length album Wysing Forest (released in 2014 via Border Community) is named after the Wysing Arts Centre in Cambridgeshire where, over a six week period in 2012 as their first ever musician-in-residence, Luke recorded what would later become the album.

In 2015 Luke Abbott won the Best Music Soundtrack award at the Stockholm Film Festival. We would like to congratulate Luke for picking up this fine award. The motivation of the jury was to award the prize for music that used music coming from the culture in which it was set. It managed to use diverse music in a way that respects us as viewers - giving us space to think our own thoughts and feel our own feelings.

(trailer for Home Sick - Population 1280 Films - 2007)

Together, Steve Moore and A.E. Paterra are best known as Zombi on Relapse Records (Domino Publishing). They have for some time developed a synthesized sensory exploration that intensifies the senses with Moore on guitar and bass and Paterra drums. Theirs is an altogether more science fiction vibe and one that sits well amongst soundtrack artists like Wendy Carlos, Rachel Elkind, Gil Melle and John Carpenter. Some parts of their latest album 'Spirit Animal' would not be out of place in an early 90s action movie (Earthly Powers) whereas with other elements more ethereal and thoughtful (Spirit Animal) - may be the conclusion of a conflict.

Their track record as being credited for writing original scores to film soundtracks particularly horror/thriller productions worthy of note:

2004 - ZOMBI - Murder Set Pieces directed by Nick Palumbo

2005 - Steve Moore - Horror Business directed by Christopher P. Garetano

2006 - Steve Moore (w/Scott Hull) - Redsin Tower directed by Fred Vogel

2007 - ZOMBI - Home Sick directed by Adam Wingard

2008 - Steve Moore as Gianni Rossi - Gutterballs directed by Ryan Nicholson

2010 - Steve Moore as Gianni Rossi - Star Vehicle directed by Ryan Nicholson

Bill Ryder-Jones - a selection of recordings
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

Bill Ryder-Jones began his musical career as the lead guitarist of The Coral, a six piece band whose psychedelic strain of guitar music exploded onto the Liverpool music scene in 2002. Highly wary of the singer-songwriter tag, Bill is now mainly focusing on a solo album and would rather be known for instrumental pieces perhaps born out of is affection for the film soundtrack works of Ennio Morricone, Jonny Greenwood, Yann Tiersen and Michael Galasso. Keen to score films himself, Bill is in the middle of exploring new liaisons with well known soundtrack writers including working on the features soundtrack to Kieron Hawkes' London based thriller, Piggy

Bill released an album 'If' in 2011 recorded with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra inspired by 'If On A Winter’s Night A Traveller' by Italo Calvino .
