Mike Lindsay founded the band “Tunng” in 2004. He co-wrote and produced all four of the group’s albums, and has been considered a pioneer of the “folktronica” scene. His work with Tunng has seen him touring the World, playing with an eclectic range of musical talent from Tuareg band and Tinariwen to Canadian hip hop artist Buck 65.  Film4 used Tunng song ‘Woodcat’ for 6 months on their seasonal advertising. He has produced a number of albums for other contemporary folk and experimental artists in the meantime, among them Serafina Steer, Hannah Peel, Bethjeans Houghton, and Cibelle. 

His production work has also seen him co-writing and producing two tracks on the Mercury Music Prize winning Speech Therapy by Speech Debelle.

Mike has worked on bespoke music composition for Film and TV since 2002, being involved in large re-branding campaigns for ITV in 2003 and again in 2004, as well as sound-tracking many high end commercials (O2, T-mobile, Littlewoods, Samsung and Honda) all of which carried his characteristic music identity.

Mike is currently writing and producing a solo record in Iceland based on his experiences living in the far north of the country, in collaboration with an eclectic group of local musicians.

Brooklyn’s Black Dice reveal the self-directed video for “Rodriguez”, a track off their new LP Mr. Impossible out now on Ribbon Music.  Black Dice are currently on their Electric Mind Monsters Reader tour in the US and will be returning to London to play to play at London’s Birthdays on the 4^th of October.

Here’s a trailer for ‘I Kontact’, the first single from  a new project by Domino Publishing's Sam Mehran (ex of Test Icicles) coming out fully on April 16th.  The underground US label Hippos in Tanks are putting it out in the states and it’s a low key Weird World (Domino Records) in Europe.

Although now firmly settled in New York City, Young Magic’s three members came together through equal helpings of openness and fortuity. In 2010, singer and producer Isaac Emmanuel had left his home continent of Australia to travel across Europe, over to New York, and down through Mexico, all the while creating and recording music with whatever instruments he found along the way. While in Mexico, Emmanuel kept a tight correspondence with fellow Australian expat Michael Italia, who for months had been similarly traveling across Europe and South America with portable recording gear in tow. They decided to meet up in New York, where their good friend from a few years prior, Indonesian-born vocalist Melati Malay, had been living and making her own recordings. In early 2011 the three friends, who had initially bonded over their broad musical palettes, began recording together and contributing songs to the record, culling influences and finding their own footing among them.
