Australian trio Middle Kids announce their upcoming debut album, Lost Friends, out May 4, 2018. Watch the Onil Kotian directed video for their single 'Mistake' above.

Middle Kids made a powerful debut last year with the release of their internationally acclaimed self-titled EP, featuring hit singles “Edge of Town” and “Your Love." On Lost Friends, Hannah Joy, Harry Day and Tim Fitz bring back their knack for haunting hooks, lyrical poignancy and irresistible indie rock appeal that critics praised in their self-titled first EP, released in March 2016. This radiant collection of new songs conjures melodic nostalgia for some of songwriting's very best, rich in heartfelt build and beautiful simplicity.

The band played at several SXSW showcases, sold-out Baby’s All Right in New York City, performed sessions for KCRW, KEXP and Sirius XMU and made their television debut on Conan. In addition to their headlining successes, Middle Kids supported acts like Ryan Adams and The War On Drugs.

Insecure Men share the video for I Don’t Wanna Dance (With My Baby), the latest track to be taken from their forthcoming self-titled debut album which is released on Friday 23rd February 2018 via Fat Possum.

The video, shot in Blackpool, was directed by  renowned London-based independent production team Sharp Payne (www.sharppayne.com). Talking about the video, director Jak payne said:

'Me and Saul had spoken about making videos that felt dated and kitsch, and kind of invoked this old British seaside culture. We found a kid's ballroom dancing competition up in Blackpool, and it worked with the style and lyrics of the song. I really liked the pageantry of the whole event, these 12 year olds dolled up in make-up and these very 70s, bright dresses. There's something bizarre and unsettling about it, it feels cartoonish in how exaggerated everyone’s out-fits and expressions are, which, I think, goes with the Insecure Men sound.'

The band, who at the end of last year were named as one of The Guardian’s artists to watch in 2018 recorded their album onto an ancient Tascam at Sean Lennon’s studio in upstate New York while Saul was working on the Moonlandingz album. It was subsequently produced by Sean and mixed by Marta Salogni.

Taking inspiration from the exotica of Arthur Lyman, the early electronic pop of Perrey and Kingsley, the supreme smoothness of The Carpenters, the songwriting chops of Harry Nilsson and the hypnagogic uncanniness conjured up by David Lynch it’s outwardly a charming exercise in timeless pop, exotica and easy listening however, there lurks a darker heart beneath the surface. As Saul says it’s “pretty music with a dark underbelly to it”.

GEORGE FITZGERALD 'ALL THAT MUST BE' OUT 9TH MARCH 2018 (DOMINO ALL-IN)

George Fitzgerald 'All That Must Be'
GET: MP3 | WAV | LICENSE

Double Six and Domino Records are very proud to present All That Must Be, the second full length LP from George FitzGerald, due for release on 9th March 2018. With the announcement, FitzGerald has shared the album’s lead single, ‘Roll Back’ a collaboration with Lil Silva.

Watch the video directed by Hugo Jenkins (Blackdog) above.

All That Must Be is a record with its psychological roots in two cities - Berlin and London. It documents a period of time when FitzGerald’s decade-long stint in the German capital came to an abrupt end, seeing him back in his hometown of London and becoming a father for the first time. It was against this backdrop that All That Must Be started to form and the result is a record that deals with the processes of upheaval, change, acceptance and renewal that affect us all.

A mesmeric, transportive set of electronic songs, All That Must Be is a collection that is moving in both senses of the word. Featuring collaborations with Lil Silva, Bonobo and Tracey Thorn (Everything But The Girl), All That Must Be plots a route through the landscape, both mental and physical, of its creator over the course of 18 tumultuous months. “I wanted to mirror the uncanniness you feel when a massive event happens in your life”, explains FitzGerald,  “Everything looks and sounds the same but it’s somehow different. Your surroundings are less intelligible."

FitzGerald altered his creative process in the creation of the album, focusing more heavily on the piano as opposed to the computer and combining the electronic drums of previous album Fading Love with live percussion recorded in the studio. The result is a record with a very human pulse and an emotional maturity only hinted at when FitzGerald had his eyes and ears firmly set on the dancefloor.

To kick off 2018, Hookworms, have today shared the new video for ‘Static Resistance’ the latest track from their forthcoming album, Microshift, due for release on February 2nd 2018. Watch the video, directed by Ciaran Lyons , above.

On ‘Static Resistance’, the band have said:

“Static Resistance is the oldest track on the album, we wrote and recorded the first version of it early 2015, not very long after The Hum had been released. It's one of only two pre-flood songs on the record. It’s a song about the wax and wane of depression and an eternal want to escape the life you’ve built.”

Microshift is the Leeds band's first new work in over 3 years and marks a seismic shift in their sound, dynamic, song-writing and production, whilst still bearing all the ferocious energy, intricate musicianship and bruised but beautiful song-craft of the previous releases which have quietly made them one of the UK's most revered young bands.

Radiant, immersive and teeming with light, but still heavy and forceful - the music on Microshift acts as a very deliberate counter to some of the difficult topics the album's lyrics address. Death, disease, heartbreak, body image and even natural disaster are all present here but the overall effect these songs achieve is euphoric catharsis.

Franz Ferdinand have announced details of the release of ‘Feel The Love Go’, the latest track to be taken from Always Ascending, their forthcoming album which is being released by Domino on Friday the 9th of February. Watch above.

The track is accompanied by a stunning video by acclaimed director Diane Martel (www.diane-martel.com). The video, shot while the band were in Los Angeles on their recent US tour, has the feel of a public access TV religious show and sees Alex cast as an unhinged evangelical preacher.

Talking about the video Diane said: I’m excited to work with Franz for the third time! They are close friends and steller artists. I think this is their best album to date. Each song could be a single, it’s expansive musically, wonderfully produced and the lyrics are brilliant as usual. This new incarnation of the band is perfection!

Always Ascending is the band’s fifth album and was recorded at RAK Studios, London and Motorbass in Paris, with the help of French producer extraordinaire Philippe Zdar (Cassius, Phoenix, The Beastie Boys). Nothing short of a rebirth, the album’s 10 songs are a triumphant recasting of the group, bursting with fresh ideas and vigorous sonic experimentation.

The band return to the UK in February for a tour which includes a show at London’s 02 Brixton Academy on Saturday the 24th of February. The band will be joined on the UK leg of the tour by Albert Hammond Jr.

SUPERORGANISM 'SUPERORGANISM' OUT 2ND MARCH 2018 (DOMINO ALL-IN)

DOMINO ALL-IN

Superorganism, one of 2018’s most hotly tipped new artists, announce full details of their highly anticipated debut album which will be released 2nd March 2018 via Domino Records. Watch the video for 'Everybody Wants To Be Famous' above.

Self-produced, written and recorded in the east London house-stroke-studio-stroke band HQ they all share together (imagine a squat version of the Brill Building, or a lo-fi, DIY take on Max Martin’s Cheiron studio), Superorganism is a spectacularly confident debut record that beams with a sense of wonky fun, a kaleidoscopic riot of sound and visuals. Influenced by the world-building depth of artists like Devo, Beck and The Avalanches, Superoganism soundtracks the band’s rapid trajectory from shared house side project to global audiovisual powerhouse and features previous singles ‘Something For Your M.I.N.D.’ and ‘It’s All Good / Nobody Cares’ as well as their brand single ‘Everybody Wants To Be Famous’.

The eight piece band - a sprawling, multi-limbed collection of international musicians and pop culture junkies have been shortlisted in the BBC Sound Of and VEVO dscvr polls among others. Superorganism will be taking their acclaimed live show on the road throughout 2018, including extensive UK, European and North American headline tours. The full dates are below, including a London headline show at the 1000 capacity Oval Space on 8th March.

Austra has shared the B-side track 'Change The Paradigm’ from 'Future Politics', the critically lauded fourth album from the Canadian synth-pop group. Listen above.

Singer Katie Stelmanis on ‘Change The Paradigm’:

“I wish ‘Change the Paradigm’ had made it onto the record because it directly embodies what I wanted to express on Future Politics - that the most powerful tool we possess for creating a better world is our own imagination. Future Politics was written in a much different climate than what we have today. It's been difficult to stay positive, but for me the possibility of what lies ahead is not only a weapon of potential, but a source of comfort and faith. We have to believe in the future and our own power to invent it now more than ever!”
