BIG EYES/THE BIG EYES FAMILY PLAYERS
On 6 August 2012 The Big Eyes Family Players & Friends are to release ‘Folk Songs II’ a follow-up (of sorts) to the ‘Folk Songs’ album released with James Yorkston on Domino in 2009. It is a continuation of the previous collection (a selection of traditional songs from theUKandEire), but on this record the boat has been pushed out a little more. The songs and stories are more sprawling, and arrangements show further disregard for any folk tradition. James Green (Big Eyes captain) admits openly to not knowing much about folk music, or particularly having much time for folk authenticity....
