NEW MUSIC: HOOKWORMS 'THE HUM' LP (WEIRD WORLD RECORDS)

Hookworms | 07/11/14

'The Hum' (Domino Publishing/ Weird World Records) comes only 18 months after Hookworms' smashing debut 'Pearl Mystic' (also Domino Publishing/ Weird World Records) . It takes the blueprint of it's predecessor proto-punk, garage rock, Washington DC hardcore, 80’s British spacerock – and further stamps it with the band’s seal. Leaner, meaner and more propulsive from the Leeds band. SPOTIFY

PETITE NOIR

2012 was an extremely exciting year for 22 year old half-Congolese, half-Angolan solo artist Yannick Ilunga, aka Petite Noir.

Remarkable early momentum for his self released debut single ‘Till We Ghosts’ now sees Petite Noir signed to Domino Records’ sister label Double Six and on many tastemakers’ one-to-watch lists.

‘ Disappear’ is the next page in the Petite Noir story, offering a glimpse of what to expect this year. Like all his music, it is a unique concoction of influences, seamlessly fusing intricate contemporary electronics with his stirring, soulful vocal and African shuffles that echo his homeland.
